For a man who’s top skating speed is higher than the vehicle speed limits in his hometown of Yellowknife, NT, Michael Gilday knows he has some homegrown help in his race to Olympic glory.
Over the years, SSi has supported many youth and sports events in the NWT. Now we are proud to partner with Michael Gilday as a Silver sponsor in support of his quest to make the 2014 Canadian Olympic Team. On March 22, 2013, Michael visited the SSi head office in Yellowknife where he met the staff and shared stories of his many skating competitions.
“I’m thrilled to have the support of a company like SSi,” said Gilday. “It is so important to have this type of financial backing to help me realize my dream, and I can’t think of a better fit than SSi. Everyone here must be very happy to work here.”
Michael returned to his hometown Yellowknife after winning Gold in men’s relay at the World Championships in Debrecen, Hungary. Previous to that, in January, he won the Canadian National Championship in Montreal. He is now training for the Olympic trials as he sets his sights on his lifelong dream - a spot on the Canadian team at the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi, Russia.
